BREAKING THE RULES

I never show pictures of my kids to the "world" because 1)other people never think your kids are as interesting and adorable and worth talking about as you do and 2)I don't want people talking to them about me in public like preachers' kids - I might be known to some folks but there's no reason those ten people should be pestering my kids for autographs too right? But I'm making an exception.

I'm sharing because 1)my kids are the cutest most interesting kids in the whole world and are therefore probably an exception to the above rule #1 and 2)because so many people from my past and hometown have suddenly discovered this blog and reconnected with me (due to Kyle's death) who've never seen my kids and might not even know that I've reproduced at all.

Here are my kids on Halloween: Jasmine, a dalmatian, and Santa Claus. That's right, Santa Claus. He wanted to go as Santa Claus dressed up as Spiderman but we talked him into having only one alter ego this year. Perplexed people just a little bit to have the young before-he-stopped-shaving-hit-the-donuts-and-let-himself-go Santa Claus standing at their door on Halloween. Folks gave him extra candy just out of sympathy for his confusion I think. Confused or just brilliant? At the very least, interesting and adorable right?

Penelope is a cutie, she's gonna be a heart breaker when she gets to be PG-13.

Yes adorable. And I've never met you before in my life.

Santa at Halloween. You've got a son that thinks outside the box. I love it! Now, will he dress as the Great Pumpkin to open Christmas presents?

Jimmy,
See previous blogs as to why there will be no more procreation in the Groves household. As for the kids, absolutely adorable! Gresham is so much like you. Twisted personality and not afraid to make other people think. You are destined for great conversations down the road with that one for sure!

Santa Claus - an old man who gives kids presents on Christmas Eve, even if they don't deserve them.

Santa Clause - an unfortunate film made by Disney that was a cute, underhanded way of normalizing divorce. Are fat suits the new blackface?

That little e makes quite a difference!

Next year you should let your kid grow his beard out.

Shaun,
Your kids are so cute! Last time I saw them, Gabriela (hope I spelled it correctly) was running around naked and Gresham was just a little baby passing gas. How old is Penelope? Our baby, Graham, is almost 6 months old.
Thanks for your inspiring words. I am reminded to cherish each moment. Sometimes I get lost in the mundane of motherhood-changing diapers, doing laundry, trying to get a baby to sleep. I forget it is all an incredible gift from God.

Paula, I'm not inclined to be the 'spelling police.' Shaun can have all the altar egos, santa clauses and sneak peaks he wants. ;)

Anybody who can turn out such an astounding quantity of good writing so quickly and so often has my admiration and my blessing to spell any way he wants. :D

So cute Shaun & Becky. They are ALL so precious, but I LOVE the creativity of being Santa Claus the best!!! Somehow I think that's a bit of you coming out in him, hummmm. Mine where Buzz Lightyear and Jessie from Toy Story 2, adorable if I must say so myself.

Yes I agree totally with what you said about why you haven't posted pictures of them before. 1)I send pictures to friends & family daily of my kids and I'm sure they are not nearly as interested in them as I am. 2)some people can be a little weird about the whole "being in the public eye thing", and I applaude you for not dragging your kids into all that. Keep them to "yourselves" as long as you can! If I could add a picture of mine on here I would! :-) See I'm even trying to push my kids on you as well! LOL It's always great to read anything you have to say, and share with your friends & fans.

Hi Jo and Jimmy, great to hear from old friends.
Always, Tara

I may be mistaken, but didn't you reveal your children earlier in the year? I think you visited a climbnasium or some sort of indoor playground. And you were siked because adults got in for free (I think).

But I may be mistaken.

Yes, I did, but those pictures were blurry and usually from behind. No clear faces. I also posted a picture once of gabriella with a plastic bowl taped to her face. See, obstruction of the cuteness. It's like the glory of God in scripture. My kids are that cute. No directly looking at the cuteness. In fact it's safest for all of you if you hide in a cave, a cleft, while pictures of my kids pass by you. Best not to take all of the in at once. So I try to obstruct their images as often as possible.

Oh Shaun, you're killing me here. You'll get to see my kids in a couple of weeks and they're cute too (although older than yours). It's a good thing too 'cause if they'd been ugly babies, they'd of been dead a long time ago with some of the things they've done! (Just kidding of course.) The dog is incredibly cute too and that also has saved him from many an untimely death!

Brody meet everyone. Everyone meet Brody.

Brody and his wife and boys went trick-or-treating with us. His oldest son calls Gresham "Josh" - no one knows why - thus the joke. Not as funny when it's explained but I laughed out loud when I read that. Thanks for the laugh. Yes, Josh looks good. He's the Arian race Santa - and a dang good one.

I have to admit it's weird when people whose faces I know are reading SHLOG. Scary actually.
