FROM THE ROAD: NEWBERG, OR

logo
I flew out of Nashville yesterday around 5PM and didn't get to Portland's airport until after 1AM this morning - on my body's clock.

I met up with Brian there, he flew in from texas where he's been recuperating from life on the road with me by relaxing with his wife and celebrating their anniversary in San Antonio. Lucky.

He met me in the baggage claim refreshed and renewed and smelling of fajitas. Lucky. We got our bags...

...and hopped in a rental car, a Dodge Stratus (eat your heart out tour bus rock stars) and drove the 45 minutes to George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon.

I'm here playing and speaking for Student Activities Directors from across the country. These are the folks at a University in charge of the various activities on campus ranging from talent shows and marathons to concerts and dances. Most of the 700+ faculty staying at George Fox this week are representing private Christian Colleges and Universities like Baylor University and Emmaus Bible College. These are the people who decide if I'm allowed on their campus and some will not only LET me be there but could even ASK me to be there. So today is important for obvious reasons.

I was under the impression I would be one of many artists on showcase here this week but arrived to discover I'm the only one. I lead a short 20 minute "worship" time this morning and will play a free show for the attendees later tonight as well. If you think about it, like right now as you're reading even, say a prayer for our families while we're away, that minds and hearts are changed and faculty are encouraged and stretched and pray I don't screw up. I'll post more after the show.

Got thoughts? Discuss this SHLOG on my message-board
